This book is about a boy who had a chance to win a scholarship to go play football a a big school, but the catch was he had to put on 20lbs. to get the scholarship. So his coach tells him about this guy at a local gym who will help him out. So he goes to this gym owner and the guy gives him some megavitamins and a bottle of steroids. At first the kid wasn't going to take the steroids, but then he realizes that he can't put on the weight in time if he doesnt use them and this book just tells what the kid goes through as he starts to see symptoms of the steroids and how they make him change physically and mentally.

This book is about a Jewish father and son who are being sent to a Nazi concentration camp and what they go through to stay together and to stay a live while they are being held captive by the Nazis.

The Iliad

This book is about a great Greek hero named Achilles. Achilles in his time was the deadliest warrior that ever lived no one dared to challenge him, and if they did they were one of three things crazy, stupid, or had a death wish.

This book tells of Achilles part in the Trojan war and how he almost fell in love with a girl from the city they were trying to conquer which was being ruled by a man named Priam and the person who was trying to take it over is Agammemnon.

Fellowship of the Ring

This is about a group of heros who go on an adventure to take a powerful ring to a volcanoe to throw it in and destroy. There are nine people in the group there are:1 wizard, 2 humans, 1 dwarf, 1 elf, and 4 hobbits.

The Black Pearl

The only survivor is a man they call the Sevillano. The son of the boss of the diving business finds the "Great Pearl of Heaven".

A Wizard of Earthsea

This book is about a boy who has the ability and skills to become a wizard. So he is sent to the island of Roke where wizards are taught. There he learns how to do many different things of magic works. One night when he is out with his friends he tells a kid he has a problem with he could be him in a test of power by summoning a spirit from the dead. So says the spell and waits for a minutes and an evil creature leaps out and attacks him. So he stays there to finish his training and then leaves to try and find a way to be rid of this enemy on his own.

The Lost World

This book is about these paleontologist and other field workers of any profession of that sort who are asked to go to this island called Isla Sorna and document information on the animals living there so people won't try and go there and take the place over and kill any of the animals and try and experiment on them.

At first when they get to the Island everything goes according to plan. After a few interactions with a couple of animals(some carnivorous and some herbivore) they start running into trouble with the dinosaurs and with other people that have come to the island except these people have come to take animals off the island to the main land.

In the end they end up finding a way off the island without losing anybody but one person from their expedition and make it home to find that the other humans that have come to the island ended up bringing back a souvenir from the island a Tyrannosaurus Rex which they end up containing back in the holding cell and have it taken back to the island where it belongs.

The Odyssey

This book is about a man who is disrespectful to Poseidon, the god of the sea, and for Odysseus's impudents Poseidon refuses to let him go home and Odysseus fights and tricks his way out of many perilous tasks and ends up getting home to his son and wife.

The Thief of Always

This book is about a guy/creature who traps people in his house for all eternity and takes their youth away from them. Then one day a boy who goes to his house finds a way to stop him and destroys the house and the evil magic that surrounds it.

Dragonsong

This book is about a girl ,named Menolly, who likes to play music but her parents don't want her to cause they feel that girls belong doing other duties like cleaning and cooking.

So she runs away and finds a cave with creatures called fire lizards in it. So she feeds them and they sort of become her pets. So when she meet this man named Master Robinton at a place called the Benden Weyr. When he hears her play and sing and her fire lizards sing along with her, he tells her that she is going back to the harper's hall and he will continue to teach her and she will get to play all the music she wants. Thats as long as she teach's him how to get his fire lizards to sing along.

Slam!

The book that I've injoined the most this year was called Slam!. It was about this guy who was amazing in basketball and was nearly unstopable. He was a 6"11" small forward. The reason the book is called Slam! is cause that is this guys nickname in the book.

This book is about this guy and how he moved from harlem to a different, all white school and how the coach gave him a hard time and how he struggled to get his place on the basketball team. It also tells how he had his problems in the classroom and at home and how he overcame them and grew up emmensely.

If you like basketball and you like to read even just a little bit then you should definitely read this book.
